It all started when...
Tools for Schools was founded by Jill and Neil Fenton, the driving force behind Green Hills Academy, Rwanda's premiere primary and secondary school.
In 1998, GHA was a simple nursery and primary school with just a few basic classrooms and 150 students.
In 2008, after 10 years of hard work, dedication and belief in the benefits of education from both teachers and students, Green Hills has become a nursery, primary, and secondary school with 1200 students and 150 staff, and widely considered to be the premiere school in Rwanda. It has sent graduates to leading international universities such as Tufts, Harvard, Sussex and more. Green Hills Academy is now an International Baccalaureate World School and a Cambridge University International Centre.
Tools for Schools was founded in order to utilise the experience and lessons learned during the development of Green Hills to aid other schools across Rwanda, and in so doing improving the educational opportunties available to Rwanda children, one child at a time.
Tools for Schools is registered as a charity in Canada, number 84760 2059 RR0001, and is based in Jasper, Alberta and Kigali, Rwanda.
