Kinigi Primary school sits high on the hills above Lake Kivu on the Rwanda-Congo border and serves more than 1200 students with just 12 teachers.
The most recent school TFS has started working with, we were introduced to Kinigi by some of its teachers who attended the 2017/2018 regional workshops we ran at Rambo school. Like many other primary schools Kinigi is severely overpopulated, under-resourced and had only a very basic provision for nursery school children. TFS has helped to change this in the past year by building a new nursery classroom that now serves 40 students per class and there are two classes per day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
What We've Achieved
construction of a 40-student nursery classroom with reading corner
provided a 5,000 litre water storage tank
supplied furniture for the new classroom; desks, chairs, cupboards and bulletin boards
